Tupelo Facts
Tupelo honey is one of the most unique honeys in the world.
It is produced from the White Ogeechee Tupelo tree (nyssa ogeche) and ranges through the Ogeechee River, the Apalachicola, and the Chattahoochee River Basins of northwest Florida. These river valleys are the only places in the world where Tupelo Honey is harvested on a large scale. Tupelo honey is a single-source honey, giving it a delicious and distinctive flavor. In its pure and natural state, it is a valuable nutritious food. Unlike all other raw honey, pure tupelo will not crystallize.
The Apalachicola River in the Florida Panhandle is the center for tupelo honey. The purest and most expensive version (which is certified by pollen analysis) is produced here. We have our bees right along the River where we collect pure Tupelo honey.
